This project will focus on collecting pet food to support the Richmond SPCA's free Pet Pantry. There will be bins to drop off the donations at the Richmond location during the Serve Day rally. After the event, the donations will be dropped off at the SPCA. We are collecting any brand of wet or dry cat or dog food, as long any dry bags of food are unopened. Please note that this project does NOT involve hands on volunteering on serve day, other than dropping off any donations you have. I wanted to do a project to assist the SPCA, and because they require their volunteers to go through specific training first, a donation drive was the best way I could do that. If you want to do something more hands on in addition to bringing a donation for this project, feel free to also sign up for one of the other exciting serve day projects available! The Richmond SPCA's free Pet Pantry is for community members who need assistance with pet food. By providing this assistance, it prevents those animals from needing to be surrendered to a shelter, but more importantly, is better for both the animal and the caretaker’s well-being by allowing them to stay together. Donations of pet food helps keep future pets from entering the shelter system. Serve Day Rally: Plan to attend the Serve Day rally, where we'll gather for a short time of inspiration, information, prayer, and worship! The Rally will be held before heading out to our projects, and project leaders will give important instructions immediately following. Doors open at 8:00 AM | Rally starts at 8:30 AM at our Richmond location.
