Graceland Farm, originally a cattle dairy in the 1960s, is in the beginning stages of a rebirth, dedicating its land, buildings, and barns to produce healthy food to fight food insecurity in the local RVA area. The big overarching idea is to transform an old milking parlor/dairy barn into a multi-purpose barn to aid certain livestock and poultry functions. The Serve Day project is to clean out the big old barn from debris, trash, wood, metal, concrete, etc. to a sweep finish so that the farmers can start framing out structures inside the barn for farming operations! Graceland Farm currently has some horses that are in an adjacent barn and if time allows, additional tasks include leveling out 4 horse stalls and placing big rubber mats in the stalls for future horse boarding use. Graceland Farm is located on the corner of Dorsett and Genito Road in Powhatan, VA and warmly welcomes any and all people who want to graciously give their time and labor to help achieve our goal. No special skills or tools required, except for maybe a pair of gloves and sturdy shoes. The Rally will be held before heading out to our projects, and project leaders will give important instructions immediately following.
