We’re hoping to gather volunteers who can help with things like light yard work (mowing, raking, trimming), simple outdoor cleanup, and basic around-the-house maintenance (changing light bulbs, small repairs, organizing, etc.). If you’re willing to give a little of your time and strength, it would make a big difference in her comfort, safety, and peace of mind. Even with regular cleaning, our classrooms accumulate a lot of "glorious children's dirt and muck" throughout the year. We need a team of people to bring a bunch of rags, disinfectant wipes, Clorox spray bottles, sponges, etc., and do a meticulous wipe down / scrub of the classrooms. The advantage of this job is that it is inside on a hot day in July! We will provide a light lunch around 12:15 for anyone serving on this project. Elijah House Academy is a Christ-centered school (TK-8th grade) that provides accessible Christian education to Richmond's children, so we're always in need of help with jobs like this, that would take our lone custodian countless hours/weeks to accomplish on her own. There is an elderly lady in our surrounding community who's deck and front porch need some TLC and modifications to allow safe, handicapped, access to her home. We will be refurbishing an existing wooden ramp on her back deck, and installing new handrails and pickets on her back deck and front porch. All materials will be located on site. Basic carpentry or handyman skills would be helpful, but anyone with construction interest is welcome. Bring any hand tools (hammers, demolition bars, battery powered impact drivers & saws) that you have. HOSPITALITY for the Chapel Choir Worship Outreach Experience: This Serve Day team will assist the Chapel Choir with set-up and tear down of their Worship Outreach Experience. It will provide a cook-out for the community and staff at RVA CARITAS - A non-profit organization that works to rehabilitate and integrate men and women with addictions and homelessness back into society. The hospitality team will also attend the Chapel Choir's Worship Outreach Program and be available to sit and pray with the CARITAS Community as the Spirit leads! The cook out will be prepared outdoors. If there is inclement weather, the cook out will be moved indoors in the climate controlled warehouse space of the facility. This Worship Outreach Experience is based on a message of hope and the power of Jesus Christ who provides all of our needs according to His riches and glory! There are multiple aspects of this Service Project, this sign-up is specific to the HOSPITALITY portion of the event. Hospitality Team, we need you!
