LEADER Molly Siner DESCRIPTION

Alison is a wonderful, Christian widow located in Chester. She is having her shoulder replaced in June, and has a civil war era home and large yard she usually cares for herself with family help. I think it would be a great service to her to have things done. Any construction would be supervised by my father, who often works on the home. Yard work Includes collecting LARGE black walnuts from the yard (which my 5 year old loves), mowing, weed whacking, and possibly brush removal. Home projects may include metal removal (dumpster already in place), placing insulation, drywall/mud, painting, or other small things that are already current projects that need done. Serve Day Rally: Plan to attend the Serve Day rally, where we'll gather for a short time of inspiration, information, prayer, and worship! The Rally will be held before heading out to our projects, and project leaders will give important instructions immediately following. Doors open at 8:00 AM | Rally starts at 8:30 AM at our Midlothian location.

LEADER David Parker DESCRIPTION

Graceland Farm, originally a cattle dairy in the 1960s, is in the beginning stages of a rebirth, dedicating its land, buildings, and barns to produce healthy food to fight food insecurity in the local RVA area. The big overarching idea is to transform an old milking parlor/dairy barn into a multi-purpose barn to aid certain livestock and poultry functions. The Serve Day project is to clean out the big old barn from debris, trash, wood, metal, concrete, etc. to a sweep finish so that the farmers can start framing out structures inside the barn for farming operations! Graceland Farm currently has some horses that are in an adjacent barn and if time allows, additional tasks include leveling out 4 horse stalls and placing big rubber mats in the stalls for future horse boarding use. Graceland Farm is located on the corner of Dorsett and Genito Road in Powhatan, VA and warmly welcomes any and all people who want to graciously give their time and labor to help achieve our goal. No special skills or tools required, except for maybe a pair of gloves and sturdy shoes. Questions: please contact Bradley Jenkins (Project leader/coordinator) at 804-690-6704 or David Parker at 540-460-7391. Serve Day Rally: Plan to attend the Serve Day rally, where we'll gather for a short time of inspiration, information, prayer, and worship! LEADER Lila Zdrojewski DESCRIPTION

This project will focus on collecting pet food to support the Richmond SPCA's free Pet Pantry. There will be bins to drop off the donations at the Richmond location during the Serve Day rally. After the event, the donations will be dropped off at the SPCA. We are collecting any brand of wet or dry cat or dog food, as long any dry bags of food are unopened. Please note that this project does NOT involve hands on volunteering on serve day, other than dropping off any donations you have. I wanted to do a project to assist the SPCA, and because they require their volunteers to go through specific training first, a donation drive was the best way I could do that. If you want to do something more hands on in addition to bringing a donation for this project, feel free to also sign up for one of the other exciting serve day projects available! The Richmond SPCA's free Pet Pantry is for community members who need assistance with pet food. By providing this assistance, it prevents those animals from needing to be surrendered to a shelter, but more importantly, is better for both the animal and the caretaker’s well-being by allowing them to stay together. Donations of pet food helps keep future pets from entering the shelter system.
